Sweet-Treats Bakery is a private studio bakery run by Mary Craft in Fincastle, Virginia. This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. I keep it simple: I only collect what I need to answer you and bake your order, and I never sell your information.

What I collect

When you send an order request or question. The order form asks for your name, phone number, email, event date, occasion, number of servings and your message. I use this only to reply to you, quote and plan your order.

When you join the email list. The signup form asks for your name and email. I use it only to send bakery news, seasonal menus and specials. Every email lets you unsubscribe, or you can just ask me to remove you.

When you use the chat window. Before a chat starts you are asked for your name, email and phone so I can get back to you if I am away baking. Your messages are stored by the chat provider so I can read and answer them.

Basic visit information. Like almost every website, the hosting and security services record technical details of a visit, such as your IP address, browser type and pages viewed, to keep the site running, secure and free of spam. This site does not use Google Analytics, Facebook tracking or advertising cookies.

Services that help run this site

These companies handle some information on my behalf, only to provide their service:

  • GoDaddy, which hosts the website and records basic visit statistics.
  • Cloudflare, which protects the site, blocks spam on the order form and provides privacy friendly visit counts.
  • tawk.to, which runs the chat window and stores chat conversations. It uses cookies to remember your chat.
  • Akismet, which checks submissions for spam.
  • An email delivery service, which sends form notifications and email list messages.

Cookies

The chat window sets cookies so a conversation continues if you move to another page. The site also uses small cookies needed for it to work. There are no advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the rest of the site will still work.

How long I keep it

I keep order and contact details as long as I need them to handle your order and for my own business records. Email list contacts stay until you unsubscribe. You can ask me to delete your information at any time.

You can ask me what information I have about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Just call, text or email me using the details below.

Children

This website is meant for adults placing orders. I do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
